Abigail Williams-Butler is an Assistant Professor at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Her research interests broadly focus on understanding the developmental trajectory of marginalized children, youth, and families in contact with the child welfare and juvenile justice systems. Within this broad research agenda she focuses on 1) examining the intersectional nature of child and adolescent development and factors that influence this development over time, 2) using strengths-based science to identify mechanisms to promote positive developmental outcomes for youth in child-serving systems, and 3) identifying innovative approaches towards trauma-informed care for youth involved in child-serving systems.
