Chien-Jen Chiang’s primary interest is in improving outcomes for children who have experienced maltreatment or related adversities through intervention and policy innovation. Within this broader goal, he has a particular interest in the understanding and prevention of neglect. His work prior to the PhD program in Taiwan included assisting government agencies with trying to implement Structured Decision Making throughout their child protection system and he has worked with research teams on three early childhood intervention studies. He is committed to developing empirical evidence that can improve the welfare of children who are at risk for or have experienced child abuse and neglect.
